Apsley House

Project Overview

Apsley House has been the London home of the Dukes of Wellington since the Battle of Waterloo, and is a Grade 1 Listed building dating from 1778. Specialist operatives from Campbell Smith & Co carried out marbling to two 4m high hollow plaster columns and pilasters in the main entrance hall.

Campbell Smith specialists built up the finish by progressively applying multiple layers of Polyvine oil based scumble glaze, each tinted to colour with artists’ colours to match the breccia tavera granite used elsewhere in the hallway.

Campbell Smith have carried out a variety of additional works to the property in recent months including preservation works to the wrought iron front gates, and restoration decorations to a bathroom and bedroom.
