The Air Forces Memorial in Runnymede commemorates more than 20,000 airmen and women who were lost during the Second World War. Designed by Sir Edward Maufe, the shrine features a painted ceiling by John Hutton; the cloisters feature painted ceiling panels depicting the coat of arms of the commonwealth countries from which the airmen and women originated.
Campbell Smith & Co were commissioned to undertake conservation condition surveys to the decorative painted surfaces within the memorial, in order to provide a detailed scope of works for the conservation of the shrine mural and cloister ceiling panels.
