King's College London

Strand, London

Campbell Smith and Co were commissioned to undertake hand colour-matching and redecoration to all of the low-level areas to the chapel. Our conservation and specialist decoration team carefully hand-colour matched sections of the timber dado to the wall and the ornate ironwork columns to match the original scheme after several poor decorative schemes had been undertaken, repainted in oil-based paints and re-gilded in 23.5ct gold leaf.

Following discussion with the conservation architect the decision was also made to apply a clear protective layer to all low-level areas to ensure these surfaces are protected from wear and tear in the future.
